  1. Elko TV District viewers, please be advised that we are currently experiencing an outage affecting TV channels originating from Reno. This disruption is due to a fiber optic cut involving a Zayo 144-strand fiber line, which occurred under a bridge at approximately 11:30pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Crews are actively working to obtain replacement fiber and restore service.

At this time, we do not have an estimated time of restoration. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

    Thank you,
    Elko TV District Board

  2. To answer Dylan’s question, the Board has not discussed this subject, but we will since you brought it to our attention. We are looking for input from the public on what their wants and desires are for over the air TV.

The TV District is a translator district, which means that we can rebroadcast stations with permission from the original broadcaster. We are currently limited in the number of stations we can bring in from SLC and Reno due to bandwidth and FCC licenses. We have a plan to expand both in the future, as long as we have capacity and availability of licenses.

Thank you for your input. If you wish to discuss this further with the TV Board, please email me or plan to attend a board meeting in the future. The next board meeting is January 9th at 6pm in the County Commission meeting room on Court street. Have a Happy New Year!

    Respectfully,
    Dale Lotspeich
    Elko TV District Chairman

  4. Is there any time frame as to when TV will be functioning again? We have nothing this afternoon except blank screen or TEST SIGNAL ON.

  5. Now nearly 3 months, since this notice. Any progress, with the fiber issue or other?
    Just seeing. test signal on.

  6. NOTICE FROM ELKO TV DISTRICT: We are aware of the Reno channel outage due to fiber issues. It is being worked on.

  7. Why are most the channels not working
Channels 2,8, and 11 are some of the ones not working
    It started yesterday 06/05

  8. Public info would be good only if it is from Reno. We live in Nevada and do not even listen to news from Utah, it’s not relevant.

  9. I have been experiencing a loss of all channels transmitting from Reno while still receiving all Salt Lake channels. Is anyone else experiencing this on their antennae?

  10. NOTICE: Channel 8, KOLO, from Reno may be cut off starting September. They are upgrading their equipment which is likely to not be able to be processed or broadcast in Elko. If we can’t get a compatible replacement from Reno, we will put ABC salt lake in place.

  11. NOTICE: There will be a scheduled outage for the Ryndon site on Friday, August 18, 2023. We will work to get the site back up and running as soon as possible.
